So I have been dying to tell you all about a hidden jewel I have found here in Atlanta. He goes by the name of Deaaron Lamar and he is truly a force to be reckoned with. I had the pleasure to meet Deaaron at his Cupcakes & Queens Runway Show. I was so honored to be invited as a guest blogger to cover the event. The event took place on July 29, 2017 at the chic TreeHouse Studios in Atlanta, GA.
Upon arrival at the event, Deaaron and his lovely staff greeted me at the door and I was given a cute gift bag before being seated. The gift bag included a complimentary bottle of wine, which I thought was so classy and thoughtful. Before the show started, guests were able to visit and shop with different vendors and enjoy complimentary appetizers and of coarse tasty cupcakes. Guests also enjoyed the signature punch and poured libations.

Just before the show started, my media boo/blogger Chrisy a.k.a The Curvy Butterfli had arrived to accompany me. The show was opened with a dope performance from artist Marcus Saafir. The opening scene started with fashions from one of my favorite designers Geek Junky. Her designs are so one of a kind and fashion forward. I have had the pleasure to rock one of Geek Junky’s garments and feature it on Kontrolmag.com.
The highlight of the event, was watching the beautiful designs of Deaaron Lamar grace the runway. If I could describe his work in one word, it would be “Fabulous!” Honestly every garment that he created was stunning. I like how he showcased a variety of styles, he gave me urban chic, mixed with classy and elegance. I also loved how he featured models of all sizes. Anyone who knows me, know that I’m an advocate for size diversity, I was so geeked to see some curves rock the runway too!

After the finale, Deaaron came out and greeted the crowd and they gave him a standing ovation. He highlighted the beautiful host of the show KT, and Atlanta stylist Coco, whom helped styled the gorgeous models. The show concluded with a networking mixer where all the guests had a chance to mix and mingle, while also listening to the dope sounds of DJ Kiki Bangdhat.
I truly enjoyed this event, and it is by far one of the hottest fashion events that I have attended in a long time. Special thanks to Deaaron for the invite, and I’m definitely looking forward to connect with this talented designer in the near future.
