On Saturday, I had the pleasure to attend an awesome event entitled The Ultimate Event Planning Workshop. The event was held at the beautiful and swank, The Marke’ venue in Atlanta, GA. It was hosted by celebrity event producer Simply Charessa and produced by her company SC Visionary Planning & Production Services.
This event was the perfect atmosphere and setting for event planners on all levels. If you are new to event planning and just trying to find your way, or an already established event planner that just needed to stay up-to-date, this workshop had great information for everyone! The workshop featured special guests and panelists that are experts in their field. The all-star panel included: Kela Taylor CEO of Marke’ Enterprise, Cheryl Adams Owner of Luxe Interiors and Events, Lindsay Edwards CEO of Collete Caters, Melba Leonard COO of Higher Ground Events, and Geri Sims Celebrity Wedding and Event Planner.
The Ultimate Event Planning Workshop
So lately I have been thinking about getting back into event planning and productions. When I first saw the flyer for The Ultimate Event Planning Workshop, I immediately new that this was something that I needed to attend. The extra bonus is that I already knew the event host Charessa, I have attended an event of hers before. She does excellent events and truly has a passion for any event she puts her name on. I have learned the importance of connecting with people in your field that you admire. If you are a fan of someone’s work, one should definitely support their endeavors and take advantage of every opportunity to learn from that person.
I was led to attend this event because I myself have had some previous experience in event planning. Many of you may remember me from being a club promoter in the Atlanta nightlife. Being a promoter actually is what allowed me to build my name her in Atlanta. I use to do a monthly event entitled “Stilettos & Curves” at Bar One. I really enjoyed doing that event, for it allowed me to meet and network with many people. Since the closing of Bar One Atlanta, I have done a few events here and there, but not on a consistent basis.
Collaborate & Know Your Worth
I truly enjoyed this workshop series, every speaker openly poured out their wisdom, knowledge, and experiences to all the guests. We were all students in that room. One of the key points that all the panelists expressed was the importance to collaborate. Most importantly, collaborate with people and fellow business owners where you both can learn and take away from each other. Another highlight of the event was the information from the keynote speaker Geri Sims. Geri has built her career for having a special niche in drapery. She shared the importance of being business savvy and making sure that business owners are not getting underpaid for their service/craft.
In conclusion, I am already looking forward to the next workshop series. I feel like I received great information for the value of the ticket price. You can’t even put a price on the information that was shared! The workshop also included a tasty lunch and guests had the opportunity to take a professional head shot with Ace Photos. Every guest left the event feeling inspired and encouraged!
